The northern Gold Coast continues to attract significant infrastructure investment, with the Queensland Government taking the next step towards delivering Stage 2 of the Coomera Connector.
Expressions of interest have now opened for the design of the new five-kilometre Stage 2 section between Pimpama and Coomera, providing an alternative route to the M1 as the region continues to grow.
The Coomera Connector is just one part of the Queensland Government’s broader 20-year Gold Coast Transport Plan, which also includes:
- Upgrades to key Pacific Motorway interchanges at Dreamworld, Yatala, Ormeau and Robina.
- Duplication of the Jabiru Island bridges to improve traffic flow and access.
- New pedestrian bridges, walking and cycling connections.
- Proposed Gold Coast Light Rail expansion.
- New GC Surfer metro-style services.
- Preservation of the future heavy rail corridor between Varsity Lakes and Gold Coast Airport.

Announcing the latest milestone, Premier David Crisafulli said the project would help:
“Get more cars off the M1, reduce congestion and peak-hour traffic, and get more Queenslanders home sooner and safer.”
While construction timeframes for Stage 2 are yet to be confirmed, the commencement of the design process is another positive step for one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.
For residents at Lakeside Serenity 4212, continued investment like this reinforces the northern Gold Coast’s long-term appeal.
