Meet Aaron Hook, Co-Director of Greyburn Building Contractors, part of the team behind Ombré Robina. Aaron’s father and grandfather were both plumbers, so he grew up with construction in his blood and a deep respect for trades. He’s called Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast home for almost 20 years, and his career journey is as impressive as it is varied.

After studying Quantity Surveying and Construction Studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Aaron spent his first five years in the Gold Coast building industry with a global company, mastering project management and quantity surveying. Following his passion for building, he transitioned across to building companies in 2010, first within estimating, advancing to commercial management and CEO roles, touching over 500 completed projects in that time. Aaron joined Greyburn as co-director of the company in 2021.

Ask Aaron the secret to a successful project, and he’ll tell you, “It’s all about having the right team.” The recent completion of the Robina Grand project is proof of this, as construction was completed in just 18 months. The trusted team then completed Si in Bilinga and has now moved over to Ombré Robina—a smooth transition that’s set Ombré up for success from day one.

“Every day is different, and there are always challenges, but it all comes down to the team,” Aaron says. “When everyone is focused on collaborating for the combined good of the project, it changes everything.” He’s known for saying, “It doesn’t take much longer to do an excellent job” — and that’s what makes the Greyburn team stand out. They take the time to go that extra mile.

Aaron’s extensive experience has taught him several lessons about what not to do, and perhaps the biggest lesson is not to overextend yourself and to always appreciate the team. “You learn more when things are challenging,” he explains. “But over the years, I’ve learned time and time again that the solution is always the right team, the right time and resource allocations, and the right sequencing.”

With the full team now on-site at Ombré, excitement and momentum are building, and Aaron looks forward to being part of the team to deliver Ombré on time and to the very highest standard.
