The first section of the Coomera Connector opened in November 2025, and Helensvale locals felt the relief almost straight away — faster trips, fewer holdups and a little less stress. Just eight kilometres from Lakeside Serenity 4212, the new road marks the first stage of a long-awaited fix to traffic pressures that have been intensifying for years.

A new way to move around the Coast

For many years now, the M1 has been the only option to get around the Gold Coast. One road. One bottleneck after another. Traffic jams every day.

The Coomera Connector, also to be known as the M9, changes that.

When complete, it will create a 45km north–south corridor from Loganholme to Nerang — a second road that runs almost parallel to the M1 and takes enormous pressure off the existing motorway.

Stage 1 covers the northern Gold Coast, stretching from Coomera to Nerang, with the Helensvale interchange sitting right on Lakeside’s doorstep.

Lakeside sales lead Tony Ashwin of Ashwin Property believes the road will be transformational.

“The Coomera Connector will change the northern Gold Coast in ways you can’t even imagine.”

Helensvale has been growing in demand over recent years because it’s minutes from new transport interchanges, schools, major employment hubs and the growing health precinct.

And that demand is only going to increase.

Stage 1 is already easing traffic

Even this first opening has reduced pressure on the M1, giving everyone a taste of what’s in store when more sections open.

For Lakeside residents, this means:

  • Two fast north–south routes: The M1 or the Coomera Connector for quicker, more reliable peak-hour travel.
  • Convenient access: The Helensvale Road interchange puts the Coomera Connector just minutes from your door.
  • Smoother trips across the Coast: Better links to Southport, Parkwood, Coomera and Nerang — without relying solely on the M1.
  • New active lifestyle options: Shared paths for walking, cycling and e-mobility alongside the road.
  • Room for growth: Local traffic shifts off the M1, keeping the whole northern Gold Coast moving.

And fewer delays mean less frustration, and more time back in your day.

What’s coming next?

Stage 1 is being delivered in three parts:

  • Stage 1 North: Shipper Drive, Coomera to Helensvale Road is now open.
  • Stage 1 Central & South: Planned for completion by 2028.

Planning continues for future stages of the Coomera Connector, including Stage 2, the next priority section of the new motorway, from Yawalpah Road in Pimpama to Shipper Drive in Coomera.

This is significant — and for Lakeside residents, the benefits of the new road will continue to grow.

Why it matters for Lakeside residents

Infrastructure improves lives long before it’s finished.

Lakeside is one of the first communities to feel the impact of the first road opening, and demand has surged as buyers recognise the advantage of being so close to a major new travel corridor.

Residents are already enjoying:

  • A three-minute drive to the Coomera Connector
  • A seven-minute drive to the M1
  • Faster access to Brisbane, the northern Gold Coast and major employment hubs
  • A lifestyle that blends nature with connectivity.

Getting to work will take a fraction of the time, and when the next stage of the Coomera Connector is complete, it’ll place Lakeside residents at the centre of one of the Coast’s most connected new corridors.

Lakeside development manager Joe Simpson of joint venture partners, Keylin and Kinstone Group says this is already influencing buyer behaviour. In a recent article in the Gold Coast Bulletin, he said:

“As the Coomera Connector Stage One nears completion, we’re seeing this interest and demand kick into the next gear with a surge in enquiry and sales activity for our waterfront precinct.”

This is no surprise to Tony Ashwin of Ashwin Property as every release at Serenity 4212 has sold out prior to completion.

A lifestyle shaped by convenience

For downsizers like Amanda Walton, the impact of the Coomera Connector is personal.

Moving from a large home in Carrara, she and her husband wanted something easier — close to essentials, by the water, and surrounded by nature. She told the Gold Coast Bulletin:

“I’m always on the go, so having great infrastructure close by makes a huge difference in my day-to-day life.”

At Lakeside, you get fast access to the Gold Coast when you need it — and peace and tranquillity when you don’t.

That’s the Lakeside balance.

A growing region backed by major investment

The northern Gold Coast is experiencing unprecedented growth, supported by a number of key infrastructure projects including:

The Coomera Connector ties these destinations together, and the market is responding.

Helensvale house prices have risen 13.4%, and apartments 9.3% in the past 12 months (PropTrack).

Lakeside Serenity — a community designed for the future

Construction of the Lakeside Apartments is currently in progress by CoStruct Builders. This final stage of the masterplan includes:

  • 85 two and three-bedroom apartments
  • Sweeping views over Lake Serenity and Coombabah Lakelands
  • Resort-style amenities including pool, jacuzzi, gym, private dining room, off-leash dog area and kayak hire
  • Pricing from $960,000*
  • Move-ins expected Spring 2027

All set within a community where over a third of the land is protected nature reserve.

The future of the northern Gold Coast starts here

The Coomera Connector isn’t just a new road — it’s a shift in how the northern Gold Coast will grow over the coming years.

And at Lakeside Serenity you’ll be close to everything that matters, living in a stunning waterfront setting that feels like you’re worlds away from everything.

It’s this rare balance — connection when you need it, sanctuary when you don’t — that makes Lakeside one of the most connected communities on the Gold Coast.

With demand rising and the Coomera Connector reshaping the region, opportunities like this won’t last.
